My name is Brandie Braun, I am new to the blogging world. I am also a newly married woman to a Wildland Firefighter. My husband and I were married in the fall of 2020.
I started this blog, because I not only want to share my story, in hopes that it can help other men and women in the same position as I, but I have also noticed there is a lack of support for spouses and families. There are foundations and help and support for families and spouses of Wildland Firefighters who are injured or killed on the line, or are hurt or pass away for other reasons, but what about the ones and their families that are living? That are struggling within their marriages, and day to day life? Where is their support? In many places I have been this is the case.
There’s no book giving you directions on what to expect and how to handle being married to the fire life. Whether you are a wife, husband, fiancé, boyfriend, or girlfriend, my hope is that this blog will bring to light some of the challenges that can come with being a part of the fire life. Some of the challenges I have experienced personally, along with my husband, how we have handled some of these, the lessons learned, and also the rewards that come with being a part of the fire world.
My plan is to write about important things to think about before jumping into this life and some of the things that we had to get through before we were even married. This is my story, my life, and how I prepare and accept the challenges and rewards brought on by being married to a Wildland Firefighter.
I hope that this blog is different than others that may be like it. I plan to be completely honest, open, and caring. I want this blog to be a place where everyone feels comfortable to read and comment. Speak about your struggles, experiences, joys, etc… of being married to the wildfire world.
You don’t even have to be a spouse! This blog will be a place where people can feel included and not afraid. I genuinely want to help others and bring peace of mind to their fears and worries. I know how lonely it can be in this world we are a part of. I want to help be that support system for others, especially when that feeling of loneliness gets to be just a little too much sometimes.
This blog is for everyone! Yes that means even those actually out on the fireline, or those that are playing the role of firefighter, and spouse of a wildland firefighter!
If you are new to the blog I highly suggest starting out at the beginning!
